RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State will host the third annual Wolfpack Spring Open this Saturday and Sunday, April 20-21, at Lonnie Poole Golf Course located on State's Centennial Campus.
The format will feature 18 holes each day with tee times beginning at Nos. 1 and 10 on Saturday at 8:30 a.m., and Sunday at 8 a.m.
NC State is the defending champion after winning the 2012 event with a score of 1-over 577, while Lamar finished four shots back in second. East Carolina was third at 585.
Senior Mitch Sutton fired a final-round 5-under 67 on Sunday to tie for third overall at -3 (141).
Sutton and junior Albin Choi will lead the Pack this weekend. Choi, a four-time winner this year, was named a semifinalist for The Ben Hogan Award this week. He looks for his second career title at Lonnie Poole. He won the fall event during his freshman campaign in 2010.
NC State's other starters include junior Logan Harrell, a winner at The Hootie at Bulls Bay last month, sophomore Bill Herring and freshman Carter Page.
The Pack will play with Clemson and William & Mary beginning at 9:15 a.m.
Six other Wolfpack golfers will compete as individuals: James Chapman, Chad Cox, Wilson Day, Andrew Decker, Hunter Howell and Christian Hawley.
The 2013 field includes 13 teams: Boston College, Canisius, Clemson, Columbia, Drexel, Duke, Francis Marion, George Mason, Loyola (MD), NC State, St. John's, Valparaiso and William & Mary.
