Men's Tennis Adds Signee for 2013 Class
March 1, 2013
RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State men's tennis head coach Jon Choboy has announced that Nick Horton has signed with the Wolfpack and will join the team for next season.
"We're really excited about adding Nick to the team," said Choboy. "Not only because he's a very good player, but because he plays at a very high level. He has had success in Australia and also internationally."
Horton hails from Sydney, Australia, where he is a member of Tennis Australia National Academy. He has also been ranked as high as 60 in the Tennis Australia Open Division. Horton owns a top-10 ranking for players within the same age classification. He was the winner of the doubles B2 International Tennis Federation (ITF) Junior Championships and a semifinalist for the singles Tennis Central 18 & Under ITF Summer Championships in Wellington, New Zealand.
"Nick is a very good addition to the team," Choboy added. "When he came on campus, he just fit in well with the character and type of guys that we want on our team. He also has some pretty high aspirations about what he wants to do both athletically and academically."
Horton will join Ian Dempster and Parker McGuiness, who signed during the fall period, as members of the 2013 recruiting class.
