Wolfpack Dismantles Morgan State, 94-52

RALEIGH, N.C. - The NC State women's basketball team kept up its winning ways Monday evening inside Reynolds Coliseum, handily defeating the visiting Morgan State Bears by a final score of 94-52. The win improved the Wolfpack to a perfect 4-0 under new head coach Wes Moore.
The win was NC State's 11th in its last 12 home nonconference games and also marked the third straight season during which the Wolfpack has started a season at 4-0.
Wolfpack seniors Kody Burke and Markeisha Gatling just barely missed achieving double-doubles in the game. Burke scored 23 points on 10-12 shooting and collected nine rebounds while Gatling scored 14 points on 6-10 shooting and grabbed eight boards. Gatling also more than doubled her career high in assists, dishing out five helpers in the win.
Senior guard Breezy Williams also achieved double figures, scoring 13 points. Monday's game marked the 10th time in her career she has achieved 10 points or more in a single game. Lakeesa Daniel (11) rounded out the Pack, being the fourth student-athlete to score in double figures on the evening.
The Wolfpack (4-0) got off to a very strong start in the paint, working successfully down low to leap out to a 12-3 advantage at the first media timeout (16:04) of the opening 20 minutes. Burke got off to a great start, making five of her first six field-goal attempts to increase the Pack's advantage in the early going.
NC State shot very well as a team throughout the first half, connecting on 18 of 34 field-goal attempts (52.9 percent). Morgan State (0-2), meanwhile, was held to 7-24 (29.2 percent) from the field. The Wolfpack was led in scoring by Kody Burke, who scored 15 points on 7-of-9 shooting from the floor.
The Wolfpack dominated the paint in the first half, outscoring the Bears 26-10 in this statistical category.
State continued its dominance throughout the second half, outrebounding the Bears by a 27-8 margin. The Wolfpack shot 18-32 (56.3 percent) and had two student-athletes (Williams and Daniel) scored 11 points each in the final 20 minutes.
NC State will next be in action on Sunday, Nov. 24 against Tulane. The Wolfpack and Green Wave will tip off from Reynolds Coliseum at 2 p.m.
