Marchand, Women's Golf To Defend Sir Pizza Terrapin Challenge Titles

RALEIGH, N.C. - The 20th-ranked NC State women's golf team opens play in its second spring event on Monday, Feb. 25, at the Sir Pizza Terrapin Challenge. The two-day, 54-hole event will be contested at the par 72, 6,278-yard Shula's Golf Club in Miami Lakes, Fla.
NC State swept the team and individual crowns at last year's event. The Wolfpack finished 6-under 858 for the three rounds. The team tally set a school record for a three-round tournament score.
Brittany Marchand won top-medalist honors by winning a playoff with teammate Augusta James. Marchand and James both topped the field at 6-under 210. For Marchand it was the second tournament title of her career.
The Pack opened the season with a sixth-place finish at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic with a three-day 11-over 299.
NC State was led by James who tied for fifth with a three-round score of 2-over 218, highlighted by a 1-under 71 in the on the final day.
Tsui was the Wolfpack's second-highest finisher, tying for 25th, at the Lady Puerto Rico with an 11-over 227. Her tournament was highlighted by an ace on her final hole of the second round, the 177-yard, par-3 10th.
Menendez tied for 28th with a three-round total of 12-over 228, while Baker and Marchard finished tied for 50th on the final leader board with tallies of 17-over 233.
McGetrick was 40th in the final standings with a 15-over 231 at the Lady Puerto Rico.
The 16-team field will play 36 holes on Monday followed by a single round on Tuesday.
