NCAA Regional Fields
INDIANAPOLIS - No. 20 NC State women's golf earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Central Regional, announced Monday night. The regional will take place May 9-11 at the Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club at the University of Oklahoma.
State claimed the eighth seed in the NCAA Central Regional, tying for the highest seed in school history. The 2012 squad was also the eighth seed in the Central region and advanced to the NCAA Championship for the first time, finishing tied for 13th.
The Wolfpack makes its 11th appearance in an NCAA Regional, with all 11 coming in the last 12 years. The Pack will have to finish as one of the top eight to advance to its second-consecutive NCAA Championship.
Sophomore Augusta James and junior Brittany Marchand will lead an experienced team into the postseason. After setting a school record as a freshman with a 74.14 scoring average, James once again leads the Pack with a 74.39 average in 2012-13.
Marchand owns a 74.44 stroke average this year, giving NC State a solid 1-2 punch at the top of its lineup. Junior Ana Menendez has also had a solid season with a 75.20 scoring average.
