July 8, 2013
CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. - For a third-straight year, Amanda Baker from the NC State women's golf team has been named a Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholar.
From Nanaimo, British Columbia, Baker graduated in May with a degree in business administration. She is the only three-time recipient of the award in program history.
"What a great honor and caps a wonderful career for Amanda," said Wolfpack head coach Page Marsh. "She improved on the golf course each year, earning several top tens along the way. I'm very proud of the accomplishments she has earned on and off the course."
Baker competed in six tournaments during the 2012-13 season and tied for the team lead with a 74.1 scoring average in three fall events. She placed inside the top-20 twice, including a T9 at the Tar Heel Invitational.
The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50.
The NC State women's golf program has had at least one All-American Scholar five of the last six years.
