RALEIGH, N.C. – The 2013 NC State women’s soccer season was one best characterized by improvement. Under first-year head coach Tim Santoro, the program won two more games than it did in 2012 and picked up its first win over a ranked foe since 2009.

On Wednesday, that improvement became more quantifiable with the release of the final 2013 NCAA RPI rankings. Checking in with a final ranking of 103, NC State saw a 45 percent improvement (85 places) from its mark at the end of the 2012 season.

State’s 2013 season ended with a 2-1 victory over No. 23 Wake Forest. Shortly after this victory, freshman Jackie Stengel earned postseason Atlantic Coast Conference honors and was selected to train and later stay on with the U-20 U.S. Women’s National Team as it prepares for the CONCACAF Women’s Championship.
