RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State volleyball team participated in its second tournament of the spring on Saturday at Virginia Beach, Va., posting a 5-3 record in its eight sets.
The Wolfpack swept a pair of sets over Virginia Tech and William & Mary, split two with Duke and dropped a pair to Maryland in a day-long event hosted by the Coastal Virginia Volleyball Club.
Rising juniors Rachel Buckley, an outside hitter, and Alesha Wilson, a middle blocker, led the team with 15 kills apiece in the eight matches. Junior libero Alston Kearns had 29 digs and sophomore setter Tanna Aljoe had 63 assists.
“Nikki [Glass] and Alston did a great job passing and Rachel was terrific overall, leading our team in total points,” said fourth-year head coach Bryan Bunn. “Our defense needs to continue to improve as well as our blocking.”
The Wolfpack hosts its second tournament of the spring on Saturday at Reynolds Coliseum, fielding two teams and hosting Elon, Coastal Carolina, Duke, Charlotte and High Point.
