    Red & White Teams Battle in Wolfpack Challenge

    RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State volleyball team took part in its annual Wolfpack Challenge Friday evening inside historic Reynolds Coliseum.


    The two squads played four sets with the white squad defeating the red squad, 3-1.


    Quick Hits:
    -- The scrimmage provided NC State fans the first opportunity to see the 2014 Wolfpack in live action.

    -- State was divided into two teams with players switching back-and-forth between the red and white squad.

    -- Senior Dariyan Hopper paced the squad with 11 kills. Freshmen Julia Brown and Erica Narel also had nine kills apiece.

    -- Defensively, senior Alston Kearns tallied 16 digs, while redshirt freshman M.C. Preddy added 10 digs.

    -- At the setter position, sophomore Maggie Speaks dished out 33 assists, while junior Tanna Aljoe had 29.




    Bunn’s Beat:
    “We did some good things tonight, but we made more errors than I would like for us to make. It was good to see the team in live action and see the areas where we need to improve before the season opener on Friday."


    What’s Next:
    The Wolfpack will open its season Friday, Aug. 29 against Eastern Washington at the UNCW Hilton Garden Inn Mayfaire Challenge. First serve is set for 5 p.m.
