Wolfpack Women Crowned ACC Champions

CARY, N.C. - The NC State women's cross country team won the 2016 ACC Championship behind all five scorers placing in the top-15. The title marks the women's 22nd and the program's 38th ACC title – the most of any school in the conference. The men took third in a competitive field, as Sam Parsons led the way with a third-place finish.
Women's Race Recap:
Rachel Koon led the way for the women with a fourth-place overall finish, crossing the finish line in 20:03.8. Wesley Frazier took second on the team and 10th overall in 20:21.0. Alyssa Rudawsky, Elly Henes and Ryen Frazier rounded out the Pack's scoring, finishing 12th, 13th and 14th, respectively.
In the team race, NC State and Notre Dame battled for the top spot over the course until NC State ran away with the 53-74 win over the final 2000m. The Wolfpack used its depth to push a host of runners into the top-15 for the win.
Season Debuts:
Wesley Frazier hit the course for the first time this season. The redshirt Junior ran alongside her sister Ryen Frazier for the first time in their respective Wolfpack careers.
Freshmen Forces:
Elly Henes and Beth Taye both had strong races in their first ACC championship. Henes finished fourth for the Wolfpack and was the second fastest freshman in the field. Beth Taye finished 27th overall with a time of 20:48.3, cross the finish as NC State's ninth runner.
Men's Race Results:
Parsons led the Wolfpack in the men's race, finishing third with a time of 22:58.3. Patrick Sheehan (23:42.2), Ben Barrett (23:44.6), Philip Hall (23:53.8), Bakri Abushouk (23:55.4), finished 15th, 18th, 22nd, 24th, respectively to complete the Wolfpack's scorers.
In the team race, the Syracuse men received the top nod with 29 points, followed by Virginia (72 points) and NC State close behind with 82 points.
All-ACC Honors:
On the women's side, NC State added six All-ACC honorees, as all five scorers and Kailyn Kramer finished in the top-21 to earn the honor. It marks the second straight All-ACC honors in cross country for Koon, Ryen and Kramer, while Wesley and Henes have earned their first ever All-ACC honors. Three men also received All-ACC honors, as Parsons, Sheehan, Barrett each finished among the top 21 as well.
