BLACKSBURG, Va. – Jonathan Addison flew to the top of the world and NCAA leaderboards in the long jump, and Grant Rivers (heptathlon) and Joshua Davis (weight throw) earned school records on Friday night, as the nationally-ranked NC State track and field teams competed at the VT Elite meet in Rector Field House.
World Leader:
Jonathan Addison jumped to a tie for the 2016 season's world-leading mark of 26'9.75"(8.17m) in the long jump. The Raleigh, N.C., native hit the mark on his second jump of the night. The jump beats his previous PR of 26'2.75", which he set in a fourth-place finish at the 2015 NCAA Outdoor Championships last June in Eugene, Ore.
Addison shares the world and NCAA lead with Arkansas senior Jarrion Lawson, who earned his mark Jan. 29th at the Razorback Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark. Addison entered the meet with the fifth-best mark in NCAA and the ninth-best mark in the world at 25'11.00".
