
Sprinters and Jumpers Conclude VT Elite

BLACKSBURG, Va. – The nationally ranked NC State track and field teams wrapped up competition at the VT Elite meet at Rector Field House. The sprinters and jumpers earned more ACC marks and set personal bests on the final day of the competition.
Sprints:
Paisley Simons opened the day for the Wolfpack on the track, sprinting to a new season-best mark in the 200m invitational. Simmons crossed the finish line in 24.25 for eighth place.
In the open section of the 200m dash, Tiana Patillo finished 17th in 24.89 and Gabriele Cunningham finished 23rd in 25.11 on her collegiate 200m debut.
On the men's side, Quashawn Cunningham sprinted to his second season-best time of the weekend. A day after competing in the 60m, Cunningham finished fifth in the 200m Invitational heat with a time of 21.51. The mark is good for third in this season's ACC standings.
In the open heat, Will Krehnbirnk finished fourth for a new PR of 21.91. This race marks the first time that Krehnbrink has broken into the 21-second mark while competing indoors.
Brian Davis took 11th in the event at 22.26, while Brandon Mclean finished 15th in 22.31.
The men's 4x400 relay team shaved almost four seconds off their 4x400 time, as Davis, Shannon Patterson, Sam Krehnbrink and Will Krehnbrink finished the race in 3:14.53. Will closed the gap on the leading teams, running his anchor leg in 47.00 seconds.
Jumps:
Javonne Antoine jumped to her furthest mark of the season with a leap of 39'11.25". Antoine finished fifth in the event.
In the men's high jump NC State took the second and third spots, as Christopher Garrick and Jonathan Addison both earned jumps of 6'10.75". The mark is a season-high for Garrick and is Addison's first attempt of the year in the event.

Up Next:
NC State will be back in action next weekend, as the teams will send athletes to two different meets. A group will head to Seattle, Wash., for the Husky Invite, while another group will go to Fayetteville, Ark., for the Tyson Invitational. Both meets run Friday-Saturday.
