
Addison Named USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Week

NEW ORLEANS – Jonathan Addison is earning national attention for his NCAA leading mark and USATF Olympic trials mark in the long jump, as he was tabbed a USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Week by the organization on Tuesday morning.

Addison jumped to a tie for the world's second-best mark and the NCAA's top mark of 26'9.75" in the long jump on Friday night at the Virginia Tech Elite.
His long jump mark is an indoor school record and is just 1.25 inches away from the outdoor school record and best long jump mark in school history held by Neil Chance. The jump as also qualifies him for the USATF Olympic Trials to be held July 1-10 in Eugene, Ore.

The jump beats his previous PR of 26'2.75", which he set in a fourth-place finish at the 2015 NCAA Outdoor Championships last June in Eugene, Ore.
Addison shares the second mark in the world and the NCAA lead with Arkansas senior Jarrion Lawson, who earned his mark Jan. 29th at the Razorback Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark. Addison entered the meet with the fifth-best mark in NCAA and the ninth-best mark in the world at 25'11.00".
The Raleigh, N.C., native also made his season debut in the high jump, finishing third with a mark of 6'10.75" and took third in the final heat of the 60m dash in 6.85.
