
Frantova Named ACC Co-Player of the Week

GREENSBORO, N.C. - After sweeping singles competition in the final week of regular-season play, Martina Frantova tabbed her first ACC Co-Player of the Week honor, as announced by the conference office Tuesday afternoon.
Frantova collected wins her final three singles matchups of the regular season, each victory over a nationally-ranked opponent. At No. 8 Duke she defeated No. 41 Kaitlyn McCarthy 6-3, 4-6, 10-8 before clinching the final home dual with a 6-1, 4-6, 6-3 victory over No. 59 Kimmy Guerin in the Wolfpack's 5-2 defeat of No. 27 Wake Forest Friday.
Prior to the dual clinch Frantova, along with partner Tayla Stenta, nabbed a doubles victory over No. 53 Guerin and Anna Ulyashchenko. In the regular-season finale at No. 64 Boston College Frantova downed No. 70 Asiya Dair 6-4, 6-2 as the Pack netted its sixth ACC win of the regular season for a program record.
As a result, Frantova improved 14 spots in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) poll, now listed No. 37 among the singles rankings as NC State improved to No. 35 among the team poll.
The No. 10 seeded Wolfpack will begin play at the 2016 ACC Women's Tennis Championship Wednesday when it faces No. 15 seed Louisville in the first round of competition.
