
Chavis Takes Third in Penn Relays Discus Championships

PHILADELPHIA, Nicole Chavis highlighted the second day of Penn Relays' action for the Wolfpack, finishing third in the women's college discus championships. In the jumps, Christopher Garrick took eighth in the high jump and Amara Bell finished 21st in the triple jump.
Throws:
Despite the unfavorable weather conditions, Chavis launched the disc 160'9" to take third out an elite field of eight athletes. The mark beat two athletes currently ahead of Chavis in the national lists, including 11th-ranked Corina Cox of Troy.
The Lumberton, N.C., native is currently 47th in the nation, 21st in the East and third in the ACC.
Jumps:
Chris Garrick added another top-10 finish for the Pack at the Penn Relays, taking eighth in the men's college high jump. Garrick cleared the bar at 6'8.25".
In the women's triple jump, Amara Bell finished 21st in the women's college triple jump with a mark of 37'9.50".
Thursday's Penn Relays:
Yesterday Alyssa Rudawsky took third in the 3,000m and Rachel Bartolomeo finished sixth in the steeplechase to highlight the night for the Pack. For a full recap of Thursday's action click here.
