
Wolfpack Freshmen Coleman and Hunt Set for National Stage at USATF U20s

RALEIGH, N.C. – NC State freshmen James Coleman and Mariama Hunt are headed to Eugene, Ore., to compete in the USATF U20 Championships at the historic Hayward Field on the campus of the University of Oregon, June 19–20.

James Coleman – Men's 400m Hurdles
Event Time: Friday, June 20 – 8:27 PM ET
Coleman will race in the 400-meter hurdles after a strong freshman campaign. He notched two individual wins this season:
- 52.90 at the Virginia Challenge
- 51.44 at the Dani Palooza Last Chance meet — a mark that places him 7th all-time in NC State history.
In the ACC, Coleman ranks 13th in the 400H, and 50th on the NCAA East Outdoor list.
He also competed at the NCAA East Regional, clocking a 52.63 in the preliminary round to finish 38th.
Mariama Hunt – Women's Long Jump & Triple Jump
- Triple Jump: Thursday, June 19 – 7:30 PM ET
- Long Jump: Friday, June 20 – 6:00 PM ET
Hunt has established herself as one of the top freshman jumpers in the ACC and beyond. Her standout performances this season include:
- 6.16m long jump (PR) – 4th at the ACC Outdoor Championships, earning Second Team All-ACC honors
- 12.84m triple jump – season best at the Virginia Challenge
- Finished 9th in the triple jump at ACCs with a 12.61m mark
She ranks No. 3 in the ACC for the long jump and No. 10 in the triple jump — top among all freshmen in both events. Hunt made school history as NC State's first female freshman under Coach Coleman to qualify for nationals, securing her spot with a 6.11m jump at the NCAA East Regional, finishing 12th.
