Wolfpack to Host Wolfpack Classic

RALEIGH -- The NC State softball team is set to host their final home tournament of the season with the Wolfpack Classic.

The Pack is set to host East Tennessee State, Penn, and James Madison. Play begins Thursday Feb. 23 with a single game and will wrap up Sunday Feb. 26.

On a Positive Trend

The Pack run ruled its first opponent after taking down Elon, 11-3, in a midweek meeting
MaKayla Marbury recorded the first grand glam of the season for the Wolfpack -- the hit was her second homer of the season
The Pack looks to remain in the win column during the Wolfpack Classic where they will play a total of five games before starting conference play on March 3
The 11 runs scored against Elon were the most scored thus far in the 2023 campaign and the most since April 2, 2022 (10 vs Louisville)

Pitcher Turned Utility Player?

Freshman pitcher Madison Inscoe started two games in the circle and won both to record her first two career wins as the Pack's pitcher
In the circle, she pitched eight consecutive no-hit innings (last four of game two against Iowa and first four in game two versus Purdue) and recorded five strikeouts
She started two games at first base, where she recorded 12 putouts with one assist
From the plate, she recorded two hits, one home run, four RBI's in 13 at bats -- in addition to recording the hit that won the Pack's first game of the season versus Iowa

The Bucs are looking to pic up their first win of the season after starting 0-9
ETSU was picked to finish seventh in the Southern Conference
Infielder Cameron Young earned preseaon honors after finishing the '22 season with 47 hits and a .297 batting average

The Quakers will open the 2023 season at the Wolfpack Classic
Leslie King, the winningest head coach in program history announced her retirement in January and assistant coacl Dani Gonzales was named interim head coach
Penn finished the 2022 campaign 12-31 overall and 7-14 in Ivy League play

Scouting JMU

The Dukes won three of the last four games, including a 5-0 win over Michigan State
JMU was picked to finish fifth in the Sun Belt conference and first basemen Hannah Shifflett earn preseason honors -- she was tabbed the Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Year, in addition to earning All-Region and All-CAA first team honors

2023 Roster

The Pack returned 10 from the 2022 campaign and brought in an addition 11 during the offseason
JSP brought in eight freshman, which was tabbed the fourth ranked signing class as tabbed by Extra Elite 100
