
NC State Men's Golf Slips To 13th

RIO GRANDE, Puerto Rico - The NC State men's golf team shot 15 strokes over par in the second round of the Puerto Rico Classic to slip six spots to 13th place in the field of 18 on Monday. Stephen Lewton led the Wolfpack in the second day with a three-over score on the Westin Rio Mar par 72, 6,945-yard River Golf Course.
Lewton matched his first round score and is tied for 51st place at six-over for the tournament and trails team leader, Taylor Crosby, by four strokes. Crosby went four-over in the second round and is tied for 28th place at two-over for the tournament.
Garry Hill and Banks Wood trail Crosby by one stroke and are tied for 37th place. Wood fired four-over in the second round and Hill carded a five-over score. Jerry Richardson improved two strokes from the first round and is 10-over going into the final round.
Third-ranked Georgia Tech fired 10-under in the second round and is now 18-under to lead a talented field that features 11 top-30 teams. Alejandro Canizares of Arizona State followed up a first round 69 with a 67 in the second round to take over first place individually at eight-under.
The Puerto Rico Classic concludes Tuesday with a final round of 18 holes.
