
Pack in Fourth after First Day of Schenkel Invite

STATESBORO, Ga. - Thanks to its best team round of the spring season, the NC State men's golf team sits fourth among the field of 15 teams at the 2015 Schenkel Invitational at Forest Heights Country Club. The Pack shot an impressive 281 (-7) to sit just eight strokes back of the lead.
Stanhope Johnson led the way for State on Friday, carding a 68 (-4) to end the day tied for fourth place among the field of 90 golfers. The sophomore shot six birdies during his first time through the course. Only Michael Johnson of Auburn recorded more birdies (7) on Friday.
David Cooke (T17) and Carter Page (T31) also had very strong days, carding scores of 70 (-2) and 71 (-1), respectively. Teammate Jacob McBride shot the fourth score for State which matched or was lower than par. With a 72 (E), McBride is tied for 38th in the field after a very consistent round during which he carded 14 pars.
Senior James Chapman (T77) rounded out the Pack's first day of action at the tournament, shooting a 76 (+4).
The second round of the tournament will resume with a shotgun start Saturday morning at 8:30 a.m. Due to impending inclement weather on Sunday, the final two rounds of the tournament will be played Saturday.
