NC State Places Second at Golfweek Conference Challenge

Final Tournament Results
BURLINGTON, Iowa – The NC State men's golf team picked up a strong result at the 2015 Golfweek Conference Challenge on Sunday, finishing second in the 15-team field at Spirit Hollow Golf Course.
The Pack led after the first round on Friday, dropped to second Saturday, and made up three strokes on host Iowa Sunday, finishing second by just three strokes with a three-round score of 845 (-19). State combined to shoot a 281 (-7) during Sunday's final round.

GREAT START TO A CAREER
Freshman Davis Richards picked up his second top-10 finish in two opportunities this weekend at the Golfweek Conference Challenge. Following his sixth-place finish at the season-opening Kiawah Island Invitational, Richards tied for fifth in Iowa with a very strong 209 (-7). Richards carded a career-best 67 (-5) on Sunday to pace the Pack to a second-place result.
RACKING UP THE WINS
Through two tournaments in the 2015-16 season, the Wolfpack has posted a win-loss-draw record of 20-5-0. NC State finished ahead of 13 teams at this weekend's competition, among them the 2015 NCAA champion LSU Tigers.
SOLID ACROSS THE BOARD
Three of NC State's top four cumulative scores were at or below par. Richards (-7), Jacob McBride (E), and Nolan Mills Jr. (E) all played very strong tournaments with teammates David Cooke (+2) and Stanhope Johnson (+3) close behind.
UP NEXT
NC State will return home to host the 2015 Wolfpack Fall Intercollegiate at Lonnie Poole Golf Course. The two-day competition will be played on Monday, Oct. 5 and Tuesday, Oct. 6 in Raleigh.
