Wolfpack Drops Two Strokes Monday in Puerto Rico

RIO GRANDE, Puerto Rico – The NC State men's golf team completed the second round of play at the 2016 Puerto Rico Classic Monday. The Wolfpack dropped two strokes from its Sunday score, shooting a 295 (+7) on the second day of action.
Through 36 holes played at the Rio Mar River Course, the Wolfpack sits 14th with a combined team score of 592 (+16).
In a stacked field which features six top-25 teams, the Wolfpack finished the second day ahead of Atlantic Coast Conference foe Virginia Tech. No. 17 Alabama leads the field for the second straight day with a two-round score of 563 (-13).

CROWDED FIELD
Just a few strokes will likely make a big difference in the tournament standings during Tuesday's final round. Despite being in 14th place, NC State is just three strokes out of the 11th-place spot occupied by UNC Greensboro. Minnesota and Michigan are only one stroke ahead of the Wolfpack in a tie for 12th.
STEADY AS HE GOES
Carter Page recorded his second straight one-under round (71) on Monday. The senior recorded 15 pars, two birdies, and one bogey during his second time through the course.
SECOND TIME IS A CHARM
Both NC State freshmen golfers in the tournament lineup improved significantly during Monday's round. Stephen Franken shaved 10 strokes from his first round to shoot a 71 (-1) while Davis Richards dropped two strokes to shoot a 74 (+2).
FINAL ROUND
Wolfpack golfers will tee off the final round beginning at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday morning. NC State is paired with Michigan and Virginia Tech, with the golfers teeing off on holes 16, 17, and 18.
