
Pack in Second Place with One Round left in Wolfpack Intercollegiate

RALEIGH, NC – The NC State men's golf team is in second place after two rounds of play in the Wolfpack Intercollegiate held at Lonnie Poole Golf Course.
The Pack is led by senior Christian Salzer who is in a tie for second place after back-to-back rounds in the 60s on Saturday.
The Sumter, S.C., native opened the tournament with birdies on five of the first seven holes and posted a career-best five-under par 67 in the opening round to lead the field after 18 holes.
Salzer had another strong showing in the second round, registering four birdies before a bogey on the 16th hole and shot a three-under par 69 in the second round.
Benjamin Shipp is next for NC State in a tie for seventh place. The defending champion of this event, Shipp opened with a one-under par 71 and shot a three-under par 69 to sit at four-under par for the tournament.
Max Steinlechner is in a tie for 13th place at two-under par for the tournament. After an opening round 73, the NC State freshman started the second round on fire, reaching five-under par for the round at one point, before a couple bogeys on the final rounds dropped him back to three-under par for the round.
Freshman Carter Graf is in a tie for 22nd place at even-par for the tournament. The Candian shot a one-over 73 in the first round and a one-under 71 in the second round.
Junior Easton Paxton rounds out the NC State lineup in a tie for 60th place. Paxton posted rounds of 75 and 76 on Saturday.
The Pack also had four players playing unattached as individuals this weekend. Graduate transfer Brett McLamb is in a tie for fourth place shooting a five-under par 67 in the second round Saturday. McLamb posted six birdies in the second round against just one bogey.
Freshman Spencer Oxendine is in a tie for 16th place. Oxendine opened the day with a three-under par 69 in the first round before shooting a 74 in the second round.
Sophomore Andrew Wilmoth is in a tie for 22nd place at even-par. The Raleigh native posted the best round of his young career in the second round on Saturday as he shot a four-under par 68 after a bogey-free round.
Thomas Deal is in a tie for 45th place at four-over par after rounds of 76 and 72.
Campbell has the 36-hole lead by four shots over NC State. UNCG is two shots back of NC State in third after posting a score of 14-under par in the second round.
UNCG's Jonathan Brightwell is the individual leader after an eight-under par 64 in the second round put him at 12-under for the tournament. Salzer and Pontus Nyholm from Campbell are tied for second, four shots back of Brightwell.
The third and final round starts Sunday at 8 a.m. with players teeing off from holes 1 and 10.
