NC State in 9th after 36 holes in Puerto Rico

Rio Grande, Puerto Rico - The 19th-ranked NC State men's golf team is in ninth place after two rounds of the Puerto Rico Classic at Rio Mar Golf Club.
NC State shot a second-round score of 7-over 295 and is at +7 (583) through 36 holes.
11 of the 14 teams in the field are ranked in the top 50 according to Golfstat. No. 6 Georgia Tech and No. 4 Alabama are tied atop the field at 14-under 562, followed by No. 2 Oklahoma State at 8-under 568.
Sophomore Mitchell Sutton is tied for 22nd to lead the way for the Wolfpack. He fired a 2-over 74 on Tuesday and stands at 1-over 145 for the tournament.
Freshman Albin Choi is tied for 30th at 2-over 146 through 36 holes. The 52nd ranked player in the Golfstat Cup standings shot a 3-over 75 on Tuesday.
Senior Brandon Detweiler, ranked 63rd nationally, is tied for 52nd after posting a 2-over 74 today.
Junior Chad Day shot the Pack's best round of the day with an even-par 72 and is also tied for 52nd through 36 holes.
Mark McMillen is tied for 52nd as well after a 6-over 78 on Tuesday.
The third and final round begins Tuesday morning with a shotgun start at 7:30 p.m.
