
Wolfpack Finishes Second Day at Puerto Rico Classic

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico - The NC State men's golf team dropped four strokes from its first round total on Monday at the 2015 Puerto Rico Classic, shooting a team score of 299 on its second time through the Rio Mar River Course. Through two rounds of play, the Wolfpack sits 15th with a cumulative score of 602 (+26).
Three of NC State's five golfers improved their scores from Sunday to Monday, as Stanhope Johnson, Jacob McBride, and James Chapman combined to drop nine total strokes.
No. 40 Georgia currently holds the top spot at the tournament with a two-round score of 561 (-15). No. 5 Georgia Tech is five strokes back at 566 (-10). NC State is just ten strokes away from the tenth spot in the field, currently occupied by UNCG and East Tennessee State at 529 (+16).
Johnson led the Pack for the second consecutive round, carding a 71 (-1) on the day to sit tied for 22nd with a two-round total of 145 (+1). He was very consistent on the course Monday, earning 15 pars, two birdies, and just one bogey.
McBride was State's next finisher on Monday, shooting a 74 (+2) to rank tied for 45th. Through two rounds of play, he has shot a 151 (+7). Chapman was just one stroke behind, shooting a 75 to end the second day of action at 153 (+9). He is tied for 53rd.
David Cooke (T59th) and Carter Page (73rd) rank fourth and fifth for the Wolfpack at the tournament, sitting at two-round scores of 154 (+10) and 158 (+14), respectively.
Tuesday's final day of competition at the Puerto Rico Classic is set to begin at 7:30 a.m.
