
Pack Finishes Strong at Puerto Rico Classic

Puerto Rico Classic Final Results
SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico – The NC State men’s golf team finished strong on the third and final day of the 2015 Puerto Rico Classic Tuesday afternoon, shooting a 286 (-2) to improve from 15th to 10th in the overall standings.
Through three days at the Rio Mar River Course, the Pack shot a total score of 888 to finish +24 for the tournament. NC State finished ahead of East Tennessee State, UNCG, Minnesota, Tulsa, and Nebraska at the competition.
Georgia took the top spot at the event, shooting a team score of 852 (-12). No. 5 Georgia Tech was the only other school to score below par, finishing second with a combined 859 (-5).
James Chapman achieved the field’s third lowest score on the final day of action, carding a 69 (-3) on Tuesday. He alone accounted for six of the team’s 13 birdies en route to tying for 33rd in the field of 74 golfers with a three-round score of 222 (+6).
Jacob McBride and Carter Page also recorded strong scores on Tuesday, each shooting even-par 72s. McBride tied for 37th with a cumulative score of 223 (+7) while Page claimed a share of 58th with a 230 (+14).
Stanhope Johnson was NC State’s top finisher at the competition, tying for 22nd with a three-round score of 218 (+2). He shot a 73 (+1) on Tuesday.
David Cooke rounded things out for the Pack, earning a share of 68th with a 233 (+17).
NC State will return to action at the General Jim Hackler Championship (March 9-10) in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
